Search tool  


First version of the search tool allows users to search for products or lines, operational studies that user has access to, seed lots and users or persons.

Input search string

To search, user inputs the search string in the search input field located at the top navigation bar.

Below are the supported search syntax/operator:

  1. foo bar - with words 'foo' and 'bar'
  2. "foo bar" - exactly 'foo bar' word
  3. foo bar% - with words that start with 'foo bar'
  4. %foo bar% - with word 'foo bar'
  5. foo bar_ - with words that start with 'foo bar' and has one additional character

Below are the entities and the attributes that the user can search from:

  • Product or line

Using search syntax #1, user can search product against designation, program abbrev, product type, name type, GIDgeneration, year or creator display name.

Using search syntax #2 to #5, user can search product against designation or name.

  • Operational study

Using search syntax #1, user can search study against system generated study name, short study name, program name or abbrev, location name or abbrev, season name or abbrev, phase abbrev, year, study type, design, remarks or creator display name

Using search syntax #2 to #5, user can search study against short study name.

  • Seed lot

Using search syntax #1, user can search seed lot against label, designation, seed manager, GID, facility name, container name, seed storage QR code, volume and unit (e.g. 20seeds, 10g, 100panicles) or creator display name.

Using search syntax #2 to #5, user can search seed lot against label.

  • User or person

Using search syntax #1, user can search user or person against username (user), email, first name, last name, team name or abbrev (user), institute name or abbrev (person).

Using search syntax #2 to #5, user can search user or person against first name or last name.

Display of results

After hitting the enter key or clicking the search icon in the search field, list of results will be displayed if any. In the results, tabs for the entities, total number of results, time it took for the search query execution, basic information of the entity, creator and date of creation are displayed. Words being searched are highlighted. Ten items are displayed per page. When going to next or previous page, the screen is auto scrolled to the top. The user interface is mobile-friendly. More information about the entity can be viewed by clicking the entity name or the view more information link in the list of results.

Below are the information that can be viewed for the entities:

  • Product or line 
    • Basic and source or cross information
    • List of known names
    • List of studies where the product was used as an entry
    • List of crosses where the product was used as a parent
    • Pedigree tree
    • Observation data history
    • Passport data

Search tool help

"Search tool help" is available to guide the user on the supported syntax/operators, supported entities and from what attributes they can search the entity from. User clicks the help icon in the right side of the search input field to view the "Search tool help".


Manage seasons  


Manage seasons tool allows Data Managers (DM) or content experts to browse, view, update and disable or enable existing seasons and create new season that does not exist in the system yet so they can use it when they are creating or migrating studies. Entry point of the tool is in Data M

Below are the features of manage seasons tool:

Browse seasons

User can browse all seasons available in the system. Disabled seasons are also included in the browser. Entry point for create, view, update and disable seasons is available in the browser. Below are the features of data browser:

  • filter data

  • sort columns

  • change page size

  • change grid theme

  • show or hide columns

  • reorder columns

  • resize columns

  • export data to HTML, CSV, Text or Excel

  • reset browser

Create new season

User can create new season that does not exist yet in the system by clicking the create button beside the seasons title. User is notified if required fields were not specified and if the specified abbreviation already exists in the database. Required fields are abbrev and name. Other fields are description, display name, remarks and whether enabled or disabled. User can create multiple seasons by checking the create another field. Notification is displayed if the season is successfully created.

Update season

User can update information of an existing season if the study is not yet used in a study by clicking the pencil icon in the seasons browser. If season was already used in a study, the update and disable icons in the seasons browser are not available. User is notified if required fields were not specified and if the new specified abbreviation already exists. User can enable or disable the season in the update season form.


View season


User can view basic information (abbrev, name, description, display name, remarks, is enabled?) and audit information (creator, creation timestamp, modifier and modification timestamp) about the season by clicking the eye icon in the seasons browser.

Disable season

User can disable the season by clicking the disable icon in the seasons browser. User will confirm to proceed disabling the season. Disable feature is available only if the study has not been used in a study.

RGA Service Request V2  


The new version of the RGA service request creation tool allows the RGA team members to be able to advance their studies, keep track of the advancement history, and print tray labels.


Advance Study

Only RGA team members can advance a study. For a study to be valid to be advanced, it has to have the harvest date, harvest method, and/or panicle selection in plot level data. The study should be also committed first. The advance button is accessible in the operational Study browser and Services browser.

Upon selecting the study, the RGA team members can also choose which progenies to advance. 

After confirming the advancement, the new generation products and study will be created. 


B4R Data Collection Mobile App  


The new version of the B4R Data Collection Mobile App features the addition of the Grid feature as well some UI overhaul and improvement of the consistency of the user interface features.


Grid Mode/View:

  • Added the new grid view feature that allows users to collect per observation unit while getting an overview of what the entire status of the data collection looks like
  • User can switch between the grid mode or the classic mode through the data collection options menu
  • Up to four label columns for the user's preference
  • Variables can now be set to read-only, and is by default uneditable and skipped by the auto traverse mode
  • Options for making the grid Resizeable/Adjustable is implemented 




General User Interface Changes:

  • Removed inappropriate padding and make the look and feel similar with the B4R Seed Storage mobile to provide branding and consistency
  • Added intuitive save and cancel buttons for most of the transaction
  • Revamped color to consistent green theme
  • Add segment tabs that are swipeable instead of a label that changes



















Data Collection Improvements:

  • Support for different types of QR code scanners in Simple Serial Port Profile Mode (SPP)
  • Auto traverse option for getting to the next button after scanning
  • Auto save upon scan mode
  • Make the form fields scanner fill-able (only for valid data types like numeric, string etc
